Ingredients: 1 cup carob chips 2 cups flour 1 cup powdered milk 1 egg 1 tbsp vegetable oil a little water
Preheat oven to 315°. Spray 2 large cookie sheets with vegetable oil spray. Process the carob chips to a fairly fine consistency. Add flour and powdered milk, process just to mix. Add egg, oil and a little water. Process to a pizza dough-like ball (holds together but is not too sticky). Add water a little at a time. Don't let the mixture get too wet or the treats will puff up. Gather the dough into a ball and place on a cookie sheet. Split into 2, and reserve one ball. Press into a disk. Sprinkle with flour to prevent sticking. Roll dough until it's about 1/8 inch thick. Using a plastic ruler and pizza cutter, cut into 1/4 to 1/2 inch squares. Repeat with other dough ball.
Bake for 30 - 40 minutes, rotating cookie sheets and switching positions halfway through. When finished baking, the edge treats will begin to separate - they may not be totally hard. Remove from oven. Cool for about 10 minutes. Crack into individual treats. If necessary, put sheets back in oven (you may want to consolidate onto one pan) with oven turned off. Let the treats crisp overnight. The next morning, place treats into jar.
