Celebrating dogs of the White House on President’s Day

We all knoscottiew the current four-footed White House residents are Portuguese Water Dogs Bo and Sunny – but they’re certainly not the first pups to keep the first family company!

Some president’s pups have become famous – Richard Nixon’s Cocker Spaniel Checkers, Franklin Roosevelt’s Fala, Lyndon Johnson’s beagles “Him” and “Her.” The first Bush president, George H.W.’s dog Millie even wrote a book. The second Bush president, George W.’s dog Barney, took us on guided video tours of the White House during the holidays (later joined by Miss Beasley).
