It’s been a frustrating day here at Golly Gear. We’re both bricks-and-mortar and online – without the online part most of the day. The website’s been fine – it’s our internet access here in the shop that’s been down, off and on, all day.
It really limits what we can get accomplished – it’s very frustrating to be in the middle of a reply to a customer inquiry and all of a sudden realize that you’re offline and the email you’ve been writing is gone forever. Back in the dark ages of computers (when we actually uploaded programs from cassette tapes!), we learned how unreliable computers could be and our mantra was “Save! Save again!” Over the years, as computers and the interwebs have become more reliable, we’ve slacked off a bit. Until today.
The up-side of only going at half-speed for the day – between customers we’re able to get caught up on (okay, reduce the stacks of) the trade publications we’ve been meaning to read. Fortunately the IT folks were able to get us back up and communicating with the outside world before I had to do something desperate – like clean my desk!
