Peace reigns again

Fran on Friday

080516_sleepingFridays start out very hectic. I bring in Tango and Booker, set down my briefcase, purse and keys. Take leashes off and put up the child gate in the office doorway. We don’t want the dogs wandering around finding trouble. I get water for the dogs and drag out the beds. (We put the dog beds away on days when they’re not here to clear room. The office is extremely small!) I turn on the computers, put down a couple of chew toys and begin to check the emails that came in overnight. By this time Booker has checked out the chew toys and decided that none of them are good. So he’s climbing on me or sitting at my feet and complaining. You know that face! I tell him, “In a few minutes, dude! Let me just see if I have to take care of anything right away.” You know that’s not good enough and Booker continues to complain while Tango is barking at every traffic noise from outside. I manage to scan the email and put out any fires there. I set up a few jumps and weave poles. Booker and Tango are eagerly sitting at the gate. I take it down and the dogs race toward the ring. Tango immediately runs into the small crate (he knows he’ll get treats there!) and Booker runs into the ring, waiting expectantly. We practice for a few minutes – jumps, weaves, and play with his toy. And it’s Tango’s turn – rally stuff, a few jumps and weaves. I take the dogs outside, come back in and put the gate up. Booker devotes his attention to a chew toy for a half hour, Tango barks and we do it again.

One practice session after lunch, and I can now get some REAL work done! Whew!
