Some things are just hard for Tango

101615_tngobkrWhy can’t Tango just figure out that “Stay” means don’t move? Tango has never been able to just stay. He’s the most active dog we’ve ever had. When we’re working, he is always in motion. He’s never content to just sit still. Tango is 6 years old, and we’ve been working on “Stay” for most of the time that he’s lived with me. I’ve tried many methods of teaching “Stay.” I tell him “Sit, stay!” He sits and I lower a treat slowly to his head. He lifts a paw. I stand in front of him with a treat in full view. He gets up. It’s really annoying when I try to take a picture of him. It’s hard enough to take a picture of a black dog, but when he’s not sitting still it’s just about impossible. Tango was groomed today – he’s adorable! I wanted to take a picture of him with the blue bow the groomers put on him (Go Cubs!!!) but would he sit still? For 2 seconds and then he was up. Not time enough to get the camera in position. I had to resort to putting him on the pause table with Booker as a (hopefully) good influence. Tango knows to stay on the pause table!
